A Work Of Art From Bow To Stern – Regent Seven Seas Splendor

Regent Seven Seas is an award-winning, all-inclusive, luxury cruise line offering an ‘Unrivalled Experience’ that lets you make the most of every unforgettable moment. No one does it better than Regent when it comes to personalised and intuitive service ensuring that your every need is met, creating a true luxury cruise experience.

The Seven Seas Splendor offers the same exceptional standards of design, comfort, and all-inclusive luxury in every suite, all with a furnished private balcony. Earlier this week, myself and Hannah had the pleasure of going onboard the Seven Seas Splendor to experience the ship first-hand. Our time spent onboard was nothing short of spectacular and well exceeded our expectations.

When we first got onboard, we were greeted with a welcome glass of champagne (or orange juice) and took a seat in the beautiful Splendor Lounge before we started our tour. Our group began in the main Atrium, where you can find a Lasvit Glass art fixture, featuring 5 rings with 358 clear Bohemian crystal hand-blown glass rods.

We then headed towards the Constellation Theater, passing by the casino and the boutiques on the way. In these boutiques, you can browse designer garments, upscale handbags, exclusive fragrances, and fine jewellery in an intimate and relaxed setting. Although Regent are ultra all inclusive, they often offer very rich On Board Credit, which can be used in these boutique shops.

Once we arrived at the theatre, we were able to see the state-of-the-art show hall that boasts lavishly staged, high-energy shows created and produced by a team of Broadway choreographers and directors. Here you can choose to sit back in comfortable plush seating or get up and dance to stories brimming with romance and intrigue, including a passionate tribute to the days of disco.

We then visited our first restaurant of the day, ‘Compass Rose’, the largest of the speciality restaurants onboard. Here you can design your very own entrée from preferred sides, sauces, pastas, and main features of beef, poultry, and fish with a decadent dessert. One unique thing about Compass Rose is that it offers a ‘Destination Dish’ that changes daily based on the port of call. As the ship was currently docked at Newcastle, the destination dish for the night consisted of batter-fried cod fish loin with truffle chips and seaweed aioli.

After admiring the magnificent decor (and the dinner menu), we then headed upstairs passing by the reception and destination services, where you can see the available shore excursions and place bookings as part of the ‘Free Unlimited Shore Excursion’ program that is included for all guests.

We then visited some more dining venues, the first being ‘Meridian Lounge’, an expansive bar with relaxed armchairs, making it the ideal spot to gather with friends for a cocktail. Outside of the Meridian Lounge, you can find ‘Coffee Connection’, the perfect destination to relax, converse, and enjoy coffee and snacks with serene ocean views.

After this we arrived at our second restaurant of the day, ‘Pacific Rim’, a Pan-Asian speciality restaurant, where you are greeted by the striking expression of a specially commissioned, floor-to-ceiling dragon sculpture, standing proudly at the entrance. Pacific Rim celebrates the culinary traditions of Asia, delighting guests with the perfect balance of delicious flavours and Zen-like ambience.

Next, we visited ‘Serene Spa & Wellness’, a globally inspired, tranquil haven of health, beauty, and wellness where you can engage with a variety of treatments designed to relax and restore your aching muscles, moisturise and rejuvenate your skin, and strengthen your body and mind. Serene Spa & Wellness is also home to an infinity pool and fitness centre, with professional fitness experts offering training and guidance on your personal goals to enrich your lifestyle, both onboard and at home.

We then saw where guests can take in stunning ocean views while enjoying elegant breakfast and lunch buffets in the chic indoor dining room or al fresco on the shaded, open-air deck at ‘La Veranda’. Breakfasts include traditional favourites, as well as a made-to-order omelet station, a variety of fresh fruits and pastries, along with daily specials like fluffy Belgian waffles with fresh blueberry compote. For lunch, indulge in an array of choices from a bountiful salad bar, gourmet sandwiches, hot carving stations, and delicious desserts.

When it comes to onboard activities, the Seven Seas Splendor has it all. Our next stop was the lower pool deck, where you can find the pool, Pool Bar, and Pool Grill. This deck features a lavish pool, 2 whirlpools, and a crew dedicated to delivering refreshing drinks and comfortable towels, making it the ideal place for guests to soak up the sun or go for a swim. During our time onboard, they also provided ice-cold bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale for guests to enjoy whilst docked at the Port of Tyne.

On the upper deck, you can find the ‘Sports Deck’ where guests can practice their golf swing, go for a jog around the track, or gather some friends for a game of bocce ball, all while taking in stunning views and fresh ocean air. This deck is also home to shuffleboard, a putting green, and a paddle tennis court. With all-included equipment (and drinks!), you can engage in a spirited contest with an afternoon cocktail, while soaking up the most glorious views imaginable.

If you’d prefer to stay indoors, you can gather some friends and head to the ‘Card Room’ for a friendly tournament, then go next door to the ‘Connoisseur Club’, a modern space with oversized leather armchairs and signature works of art where you can enjoy a fine cigar and a meaningful conversation. If you’re looking for something more upbeat, you can visit ‘Observation Lounge’, a wonderful vantage point to enjoy staggering views under a whimsical chandelier, accompanied by live music.

Next we visited the library, where we silently observed the well-stocked and exceedingly comfortable area, offering a vast collection of volumes ranging from destination-specific guidebooks, to best-selling mysteries and classic literature.

After leaving the library, we headed to the ‘Culinary Arts Kitchen’, where you’re provided with all the ingredients to expand your culinary skills, whatever your level of expertise. The culinary workstations provided are fully equipped with top-of-the-line induction cooktops, stainless steel sinks, and a comprehensive collection of cooking essentials. Guests attending these classes will receive highly individualised hands-on instruction, with a curriculum appealing to a wide range of tastes and all levels of aptitude.

If you’d prefer to leave the cooking to a professional, ‘Prime 7’, a contemporary interpretation of a classic American steakhouse, is the perfect place to be. Prime 7 offers a luxurious setting to enjoy classic steakhouse cuisine with a modern flair. Starters include jumbo lump crab cakes, classic steak tartare, and clam chowder. To ensure the ultimate tenderness and juiciness, all beef served is USDA Prime and Dry-Aged at least 28 days. Aside from the beef, the other star of the show in Prime 7 is Pablo Picasso’s ‘Le Taureau Noir’, welcoming you as you enter the restaurant.

Our last stop on the tour was at ‘Chartreuse’, a chic Parisian fine dining restaurant where you’ll be treated to a succulent dinner while enjoying incredible ocean views. Chartreuse was where we were treated to an exclusive sample menu, combining favourites from all of the speciality dining venues onboard.

For our first course, we had tuna tartare from Pacific Rim, which was sushi-grade tuna with mirin soy sauce and carrot-ginger dressing. For our second course, we had seared lump crab cake from Prime 7, served with tartar sauce and lemon. For our main course, I chose the tournedos de boeuf Grillé Rossini from Chartreuse, which was beef tenderloin Rossini with brioche, truffle royale, seared foie gras, and sauce Périgourdine. Finally, for our dessert, we had Baked Alaska from Compass Rose, served with raspberry-vanilla sauce. The food was absolutely divine.

Overall, we had the most amazing day on board the beautiful Seven Seas Splendor and know our guests will absolutely love what Regent have to offer.
