AmaKristina Day 2 – A Day In Arles

Day 2 has been spent exploring the beautiful town of Arles. Arles is famed for inspiring the paintings of Vincent Van Gogh. Some of the paintings that he created in Arles include the Rhone at Night, Yellow House & The Night Cafe.

Arles is a beautiful town, and was once a provincial capital of Ancient Rome, and is known for many remains for this era including the Amphitheatre.

I started my morning with a trip to the lounge for a coffee from the coffee machine. Teas, coffees, water and iced tea are available 24/7 with two coffee machines on board. After a walk around the ship, I then had breakfast in the main dining room which was amazing.

For breakfast, there is so much choice and is all A La Carte. There is also a small buffet area which has muesli, fruit, pastries and bread.

After lunch we went on our excursion which was the Vincent Van Gogh Walking Tour. There was a choice of three excursions this morning, the other two being a Cycling Tour or an Arles Walking Tour. What I like about the excursions is that they really go above and beyond, for example on the Arles Walking Tour everyone had access to the Ampitheatre which should be €19pp. Also, you don’t have to choose the same excursion as the person you are sharing your room.

The Van Gogh walking tour was amazing and it was just beautiful to know we were stood in the exact places that inspired his work. The town of Arles really surprised me, it is such a hidden gem. It reminds me of a town that has stood still in time, with beautiful wooden balcony doors and cobbled streets.

After the walking tour, we came back to the ship for lunch where we dined in the main dining room again. There is so much choice!

This afternoon, I opted out of the excursion and stayed to chill on the ship after a long travel day yesterday. I enjoyed Afternoon Tea in the lounge with a latte before having another look around the ship.

This evening we dined at the main restaurant which again was beautiful and I went for the Chef’s Recommendation (I will do a blog about what is included with Ama with pictures of the Menu’s). After dinner, the entertainment tonight was Christmas Tree decorating which was adorable. It really got us in the Christmas spirit.

On board there is such a family, warming feeling. The staff go above and beyond and really make you feel like you’re at home. One of the waiters, Alex, described the ship as his home and said he likes to make guests feel the way he would in his home, which really shows throughout the ship.

Sadly, we can’t move to Avignon tonight as planned due to high water levels, so hopefully we will move soon. The crew however, have been so helpful and accommodating and have ensured that tomorrow’s excursions in Avignon can still go ahead as planned. They seem to be one step ahead of the game at all times, which is so reassuring.

Tomorrow I will update you all about the town of Avignon, as I am off on a ‘Tastes of Avignon’ excursion in the morning!
