Scarlet Lady

tonnage 110,000

length 278 m

The first Lady Ship of our Virgin Voyages fleet is almost here, and she’s shaping up to be quite a beauty. If the leading lady image on the livery seems recognizable, it might be because she’s made appearances on Virgin entities before. Designed by artist Toby Tinsley, her likeness appears on Virgin Atlantic and Australia aircrafts as well as the Virgin Galactic spaceline.

Now, she’s emerging again, but this time she reappears as a mystical Mermaid – the soul and spirit behind the first Virgin Voyages ship. Her name, and therefore the name of our first vessel, was carefully deliberated and finally chosen to be…

Scarlet Lady. There…we said it. The mermaid’s out of the bag! Scarlet is the embodiment of everything this ship represents. As our figurehead, she takes on a role historically dedicated to goddesses, important women in society, and even mermaid figures.

Though beautiful and mysterious in vision, she represents a woman of power – the leader not only on our first voyage, but also in our efforts to encourage front-facing female leaders throughout our company with our Virgin Voyages Scarlet Squad Program.

The Vitamin Sea ethos focuses on well-being that delivers rejuvenation and transformation for all sailors. Our entire voyage employs elements of both detox and retox, depending on how a sailor might want to curate their time. We embrace self-care while feeding our mischievous curiosities at the same time, recognizing that a complete experience makes room for both.

The Wake

Glamour is on the horizon at the aft of the ship. Designed by Roman and Williams, Wake offers sailors a dramatic view of the ship’s wake while serving a sophisticated take on steak and seafood as well as a Sommelier led Magnum menu. Cheers, Sailor!

The perfect mix of sophistication, nostalgia and cool — entering The Wake is an event in and of itself. And once you’ve made your way down the grand staircase, you’ll enter a world that harks back to the old steakhouse, three-martini-lunch days of Madison Avenue ad men. But ya know, now with, thankfully, gender equality. And less cigar smoke.

Razzle Dazzle

So your best friend wants something light and healthy, and you want to get real weird? This is that place. Boasting a bold interior, this restaurant offers creative suprises on some classic, comfort go-tos. Whether you’re looking for something familiar (#basic can be good) or something spicy and out of left field, this place does all of that with a twist (bfast, lunch, dinner, baby).

Test Kitchen

In this Concrete Amsterdam designed experimental, lab-like restaurant, chefs will have carte blanche. They’ve hand-picked all the ingredients and written them down on your menu. As for how those ingredients will come together, you won’t know unless you dare to dine with us.

Inspired by Escoffier’s Ma Cuisine, this laboratory-like eatery is part cooking school and part restaurant. It’s educational, experiential and social. With classes and evolving tasting menus, this is for the curious, boundary-pushing tastebuds on board.

Gunbae

In Korea, you’re not drinking right if you’re doing it alone. In Gunbae, we believe the same goes for eating (and drinking, of course). Enjoy the best Korean BBQ on the seven seas with the first round top-shelf soju shots on the house.

If you’re into hands-on meat-grilling and soju drinking, our Korean BBQ is the perfect spot to do all that with maximum social engagement (IRL, but feel free to ‘gram it if you want). It’s a catalyst for great conversation since we all have that one friend who insists on being the meat-master. Go ahead and roast the master while they roast the meat

Pink Agave

Tom Dixon didn’t hold back when designing this upscale and refined Mexican restaurant. Fuelled by the power of simple and fresh ingredients coming together for an explosion of flavour. Salty rim, anyone?

The Galley

Modeled on popular food halls where visitors can taste a cornucopia from different restaurants, The Galley, designed by Softroom, will be the main space for the quick and casual meal throughout the day. The food hall will feature a mix of more than eight shops and food carts, each offering a unique concept with irresistible signature dishes that changes to suit the time of day. The Galley’s concepts include a dedicated bakery and pastry shop, a panini shop, a burger grill, a taco shack, a sushi bar with bento boxes, a noodle bar, a soup and salad stand, and a 24-hour American diner.

The Pizza Place

The perfect spot for people watching and made to order pizza. At The Pizza Place, you have complete control over your pie, from the dough to the cheese, a little cracked pepper, a little ricotta, and any other topping you want, watch it come to life right before your very eyes.

Extra Virgin

Very few things in the world rival and exquisite dish cooked with a mother’s touch. For Extra Virgin, our pasta-focused eatery deeply rooted in Italian traditions, we felt the same goes for your surroundings. With communal tables and a private dining room inspired by a “mobster’s lair,” this is the perfect space to enjoy top-tier dining that feels like a home-cooked meal.

Trattoria serving regionally-inspired and approachable food, deeply rooted in Italian culinary traditions with handmade fresh pasta made daily. A meal begins with shared antipasti followed by approachable pasta-centric favorites. Extra Virgin features a wide and wonderful world of amari and digestivi and traditional Italian aperitifs designed to stimulate the appetite.

The Dock

Okay, frankly we’d be wild to build a ship and not have an eatery with a sun-drenched lounging area so you can combine all the things you love in one place (eating and views, obviously) so yep — we did that. The Dock feels like an elegant cabana caught between the chill, seaside perfection of Ibiza and the rustic-chic resorts of Brazil.

The Dock

The Dock, an outdoor lifestyle space with a focus on comfort, social life and an appreciation for the ship’s gorgeous views.

The Manor

Nightclubs on ships don’t tend to focus on atmosphere, as a good nightclub should. Lighting, navigation, hidden and open spaces, especially for dancing. The Manor has been designed by Roman and Williams because of the strength of places they’ve done. They know how to create an atmospheric space.

The two-story, three bar space, named after Richard’s first recording studio, is inspired by a classic theatrical zeitgeist – layered with a moody & sexy ‘70s, punk vibe. Ground-breaking shows will kick the night off before it transitions into a mind-blowing, goodbye-early-morning-workout nightclub.

Squid Ink

The first of its kind, Squid Ink is Virgin Voyages tattoo studio at sea.

Got ink? Thank a sailor.

As the British Navy expanded across the globe, they picked up a thing or two about tattooing during their travels. When the first settlements were established in the New World, British sailors transferred these newly acquired tattoo traditions directly to their new American brothers.

For generations, sailors have believed in the power of tattoos to shield them against the dangers at sea. A pig and a rooster emblazoned on each foot were viewed as protection from drowning (pigs and roosters were frequently the only survivors of a shipwreck). Tatts were used to celebrate milestones like a sailor’s first time crossing the equator, as reminders of their family and loved ones or to commemorate a victory at war. They were known as identifying markings for long-term sailors who earned their living primarily at sea.

At Virgin Voyages, we believe embarking on a journey through the modern romance of sailing would not be complete without the opportunity for a permanent way to commemorate your voyage.

Vitamin Sea

At Virgin Voyages, well-being is viewed as natural to everyday life – something we proudly refer to as “Vitamin Sea.” As the world’s natural cooling system, the sea is the inspiration for how we view well-being; it is an outlook that includes our goal of being among the most sustainable options in sea travel.

We know that for each sailor it’s different and Vitamin Sea is ultimately what they make it. Whether that’s waking up at sunrise for a mindful meditation, dancing to an entrancing DJ set until day break, or a bit of both. Here, the restorative nature of our beloved ‘Vitamin Sea’ is something we all share generously with each other. It’s all an extension of what it means to take a Virgin Voyage. Just the right dose of well-being to fuel a sailor’s mind, body and soul.

Relaxation Centres

From our main Redemption Spa to the satellite mani-pedi spa, to the Stubble & Groom barber shop and Dry Dock blow out bar, all of our relaxation centers help rebuild energy and improve ourselves physically while promoting a sense of inner peace.

B-Complex Gym

#Burn, #Build, #Balance or #Bike; we’ve got everything a true #gymfreak could possibly want. Fear not, our little fitness fanatic —we’ve got you covered. We’ve got an outdoor running track, so many weights there’s no wait* (*this is not legally binding), yoga to balance your chi—and then get on Todd’s level, who’s three bikes over and gunning to crush the Tour de France.

The Athletic Club

Designed with the aesthetic of athletic social clubs of the past, our club incorporates not just an active Training Camp room and boxing classes — but also a full-on basketball court and a cold-pressed juice bar. Dunk on your friends while consuming a fresh-pressed carrot-ginger-echinacea juice? It’s a mood, but one we are absolutely here for.

The Athletic Club, with a history rooted in athletic social clubs of the past, incorporates not only an active Training Camp room and boxing classes but also a full basketball court and a cold-pressed juice bar to make sure our physical and social lives are replenished with equal vigor.

It’s a gym. It’s a bar. It’s basically heaven.

Redemption Spa

If vacation for you isn’t complete without the ultimate form of self-care (hi, us too), our spa will be your second home. From massages so good they’ll make you question life itself, to a mudroom that will revitalize your soul and body, we call it Redemption for a reason. Redeem yourself from last night, last month or last year…or just redeem yourself because you want to. You earned this.

Outdoor Yoga Studio

Oh, um, hi, did we hear you’d like to perfect tree pose under the Caribbean sun? Because wow, you actually… can. Located on our upper level deck, we provide a yoga, meditation and stretch-based space that allows you to find yourself in complete tranquility… you just happen to get to #findyourself with the most gorgeous ocean backdrop possible.

Aquatic Club

With smooth curves and nautical details, we’ve created a pool deck with the sophisticated glam of a contemporary yacht. Whether you’re looking to sunbathe in one of our daybeds or let last night’s choices melt away in the pool, you can detox and recover, or start the party all over again. Don’t be surprised if paparazzi mistake you for celebs – we’re legally not responsible for how good you look on this ship.

Gym & Tonic

After working up a sweat or finding your moment of reflection, restore yourself in the serenity zone by hopping in the Well-being Pool. Then boost your performance with fresh cold-pressed juices, served at the Gym and Tonic bar. MyBeast, an artistic adult playground and fitness apparatus designed by Equilibria, will add a Venice Beach-like atmosphere to the Well-being Pool.

Group Workouts & Classes

All our fitness classes are included. In fact, the only currency we accept is sweat. And if you’re “not a sweaty person,” lie about it for the sake of the rest of us.

Whether you’re a reigning lightweight champ or that person who pays for a gym membership but never uses it, we’ve got classes for every level.

Catamaran Net

There is also a great catamaran net for those who wish to sit back and watch it all happen from the comforts of the largest daybed at sea.

The Runway

The signature Virgin-red running track forms a halo-like vision over the ship, where sailors will sweat, strut or skate.

Sustainability

At Virgin Voyages we strive to make the world a better place with all we do. And while sailors should be free to voyage, it just wouldn’t feel right unless we were sailing ethically. Using business as a force for good is at the heart of who we are.

One partnership is with the Sweden based Climeon, with a goal to majorly reduce carbon dioxide emissions by converting the heat from the ship’s engines into electricity. Since one Climeon unit can produce enough electricity to power 250 normal households, and we have six on each ship, we have the potential to power about 1500 households. This would not only provide for the cabins and suites but also the restaurants, casino and other venues.

We have also partnered with Scanship, a Norwegian company known for their leadership in purifying wastewater. Scanship uses game-changing technology called microwave assisted pyrolysis (MAP), to convert organic waste into clean energy.

If operated like a traditional ship, we estimate that each vessel would generate 300 tons of disposable plastic per year. Our goal is to reduce that amount of plastic by at least 50%, and divert remaining plastics to recycling.

That means eliminating single-use plastics across a whole range of products sailors will use like plastic straws, water bottles, stirrers, condiment packs and other unnecessary food packaging. We also plan to provide all sailors with reusable drink bottles, and will offer complimentary still and sparkling water throughout the ship. Bye, bye plastic water bottles.

You’ve heard of tree hugging, yes? Well, let’s consider this sea hugging. We just want to give the sea a great hug with all of these initiatives, and are hoping to set a new standard, not only for ocean voyages but for all travel.

Drinks Packages

What’s a voyage without a few choice cocktails? Your voyage includes our basic bevvies and, while we don’t have traditional drink packages, our offerings are very reasonably priced.

As an Adult-by-Design voyage, we have an extensive array of carefully selected beer, wine and expert cocktail options shipwide. If you must bring that rare bottle of red you got in the south of France, we get it. Sailors are also welcome to bring 2 bottles of wine per cabin in carry-on bags (sorry, no liquor or beer please). Please note, any alcohol in your checked luggage will be collected pre-voyage and returned once your voyage is complete. You are also welcome to bring specialty liquors from a port of call on board. Simply hand them to our security team as you board, and we will hold them until the last night of your voyage.

What’s Included?

Staying hydrated is a must for well-being at sea (and we prefer our Sailors feel their best), so enjoy any Basic Bevvies on us including water (still and sparkling, of course), non-pressed juice, soda, sachet tea and drip coffee if you need a boost. Since WiFi is as essential as water to us, count that in, too. Unique entertainment experiences taking place in The Red Room? Yup, that’s also included. Plus, we’ll cover restaurant dining, tips and group fitness classes, too!

Smoking Policy

Smoking will only be permitted in a designated smoking room and on the top deck outdoor area. Smoking is not allowed on any cabin terraces.

Smoking of any kind outside of designated areas (even with a “vape” device) will result in a $1000 fee, is a material breach of your ticket contract, and may result in you being disembarked at the next port with no refund. Any repatriating fees will be charged to your onboard account.

Dietary Requirements & Food Allergies

Our expansive food and beverage offerings should be able to accommodate most dietary needs and requests, but be sure to ask our Sailor Services Crew before you sail regarding any specific requests or allergy concerns. Please note, we are NOT an allergen-free kitchen.

Service Animals

Service animals are permitted on board. Please be mindful of the number of furry friends you take on your voyage as there is a limited total number allowed per sailing and we must accommodate for all Sailors.

Service animals are dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability (e.g., guide dogs, hearing-ear dogs, psychiatric service dogs). The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability. Individuals with disabilities will generally be permitted to access all the ship’s public spaces accompanied by their service animal.

While we will make every effort to accommodate miniature horses as service animals, we ask the guest requiring the use of a miniature horse as a service animal to contact Sailor Services as soon as possible to assess the miniature horse’s characteristics as a service animal.

We’re sorry, but emotional support animals are not service animals. Emotional support animals will not be allowed on board.

For more information on service animals, we invite you to visit the U.S. Department of Justice Service Animal FAQs.

Disabled Facilities

We have a limited number of cabins available for Sailors with special needs or reduced mobility. Please book early and specify all of your required accommodations to our Sailor Services Crew, your travel agent or in your online booking.

We have a limited number of cabins that can accommodate wheel chairs. Please bring your own preferred wheelchair, if needed, and be sure to book early to guarantee the cabin of your choice. Collapsible wheelchairs are strongly encouraged.

Sailors staying in ADA-compliant cabins and suites are allowed to bring mobility scooters on board but are asked to please store them in the cabin when not in use.

Please contact our Sailor Services Crew to request any specific medical services or needed accomodations.

While our medical facilities are ready to go with some of the best equipment and medical professionals available for emergencies and short-term medical needs, our facilities are not adequately equipped for highly specialized, longer-term treatment such as dialysis treatment.

Medical Facilities

We are equipped with a licensed physician and nurses at all times while sailing.

Our mini bars and in-room bars in our Suites will have ample room for storage for medication that needs to be refrigerated. If you find yourself in need of extra space, please contact Sailor Services, and they will accommodate your request as best they can.

Wi-Fi

Unlimited WiFi browsing is included for all Sailors. So there’s no charge for social media, email, web browsing or messaging. An upgraded premium entertainment package will also be available for just a bit extra with the fastest speeds to support streaming.

Dress Code

We always want all of our Sailors to feel comfortable. We encourage you to wear more than a bathing suit if you go to a restaurant and kindly consider shoes, but your style is your style. Who are we to judge?
